Hi;
Can I remove the 90 elbow from this p-trap and run the 2" pvc pipe directly into that end of the trap? Does this trap take schedule 40, or thin wall pvc pipe?
This is not a working installation - I am trying to build a "poor man's" "Gutter Clutter Buster" for cleaning my rain gutters.
I have not purchased any of the pipe/fittings yet; just trying to put it all together and price it out.
Thanks for your help

Yes, you can glue sch40 into the u-bend. If you don't want the ell, you should be able to buy just the u-bend, instead of a trap assembly.

I would think that 2" is much too large for what you want to do. I think 1" would be more like it. You could glue a st.90 into a 90 to make the 180 degree bend.

For vacuuming leaves I don't think I want to go smaller than 2". If I did go smaller, I'm afraid that leaves and debris would jam up at the inlet and in the bends. The pipe will need to be coupled to my shop-vac hose, which I believe is 2 or 2-1/2".
I like the suggestion by North Carolina Plumber to use st.90 to 90 combo. That way, I can add a short piece between if I want more width to the bend.
If I choose to go this way vs the GCB product, I will go to my DIY store with my vac hose and see how things will fit together.

Since you're using vacuum 2" should be fine. I was thinking you were going to use it as an extension on a pressure washer or such. I knew that a 20' joint of 2" PVC full of water could be a mite hard to handle. : )
