 Faucet changed behavior
Author: sum (FL)

My kitchen faucet is behaving differently all of a sudden.

It is a single handle faucet and it used to shut off the water immediately when the turn the handle to the close position.

Last night I changed out one of the hose bibs from an old partially rusted valve to a new full port quarter turn valve. I shut the main line off. Opened the kitchen faucet on the inside (to relieve the pressure), then went outside to open the old hose bib, then removed it, put the new one on. Turned main shutoff back on, saw that the kitchen faucet was running, turned that off, went outside to test the hose bib, no leak, put on vaccuum breaker, all good. Done.

But since then, my kitchen faucet behaves differently. When I turn the handle to close, it doesn't shut off water immediately, instead the flow slows steadily and comes to a complete stop after 5 seconds.

Is this possible or am I hallucinating?

odds are there is debris in it from turning the main off and back on ?

Would have to know the make and model, because normally, the only way that would happen is if there is a "bubble of air" after the shut off handle that gets pressurized and then takes time to depressurize while forcing the water out ahead of it.

When you changed the Bibb Washer.... was it OEM Bibb Washer or "One That Was Just As Good" Bibb Washer?

He changed a hose faucet. He did not change the bibb washer. Now that they have won the World Series, we have nothing else to look forward to and dream, so does that mean the end of the world?

It took Chicago 100 plus years to assemble 5 million people for a parade, plus who knows how many TV viewers. But it was worth it.

Thanks for the update on Sum's Faucet.

Best Wishes

It only took 3 days to get 6 million people for a parade. It took 108 years to get a reason for the parade. I could not watch the games because I was sure once they were down 3-1 that they were going to go "Cubby" on us.

Plumbing wise, its too early in the pre-season to determine the Wade Investment. But its money well spent. Rose, returned to Chicago last night and was Boo'd. What does that tell you? Smiling. Wade loves Chicago food and basketball.

Best Wishes
