Increasing water pressure to new home
Author: schreibdave (NY)

We are building a new home outside Syracuse, NY and neighbors report that the area has low water pressure. At least one neighbor has installed something to increase the water pressure to the house. I know nothing about this type of thing so any advice or comments would be appreciated. Thanks

you need to install a larger size water main from the street into your house.
at that point you need a pressure tank and a pump.
amtrol ,for one, makes what you want..

If the city's pressure is inadequate, it makes no difference what size pipe you have to the house, it will NOT improve it. Y.A. McDonald makes an inline booster system.

There are Pressure Problems and there are volume Problems. You first need to put a Pressure gauge on something like an outside spigot and see what it reads....it could real 80 psi but if you flush a toilet and the pressure drops way off "like to 20-25 psi when toilets filling you have a volume Problem and no Pump will help you, you will need a tank w/ a bladder and a check valve to solve the problem. If the gauge pressure is low to begin with without flushing a tank and pump is what you need.

Thanks for the responses. I am told that it is a pressure problem and not a volume problem. But the house is not completed yet, so we will see.

Is there a wayto get this forum to notify me when I get a response?
