 Plumber tub waste mix up
Author: denplumb (CO)

Recent bathroom renovation - my plumber (inadvertently I suppose) installed a Watco 'Innovator' waste overflow for my tub after discussing Delta for compatibility with chosen fixtures. When putting fixtures on, we find out that the only compatible solution for the tub overflow installed is this snap on plate - only provided by Watco, only in Watco finishes. Because the entire wrong waste rough in was used.

Had it been a Watco screw on plate, probably would have had better luck with a finish match to the rest of the Delta trim. Redoing the install of the waste overflow seems frivolous and may now have an accessibility challenge as the tub and tile are done.

As a consumer, it seems this was a very narrow market choice to have made without consult, especially given we had already spoken in detail about compatibility. Could have changed all the other trim to accommodate, but too late now. Advice on modifying this snapon plate? Any knowledge on Watco's Brushed Bronze finish which may be my best bet to match Delta Champagne Bronze?

I much prefer a Watco tub waste to any other and use them exclusively . I think an Oil Rubbed Bronze Watco overflow plate will match the Delta finish very well. That's the combination I use and have never heard any complaints.

From what I see from Watco's website, the Brushed Bronze finish is a lot darker than Delta's Champagne Bronze(not as dark as Oil Rubbed, but still way off from Delta).
