Best way to connect pex to washing machine hoses? Drop ears & hose bibbs?
Author: Studly (MN)

What is the best way to run 1/2" pex to connect with my washing machine hoses? It wouldn't really work for me to use one of those inset washing machine outlet boxes. Would just running the pex to drop ear elbows connected to threaded hose bibbs work well? As long as I can fasten the drop ear elbows down good, it should be strong enough to withstand the vibrations of the washing machine hoses, right?

Also, I found it interesting that this guy on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vj_me-s1Kzc) connects his drop ears to some copper tubing extensions before connecting the copper to pex. Is that a good idea or is that overkill, since it would be easier to just connect the pex directly to the drop ear elbows that have a pex connection on top?

yeah, connect the pex directly to the drop eared 90's..
the hoses will not vibrate when the machine spins. thats why we use hoses..

Thanks for the reply. Was wondering if, when the washer shuts the water off and turns it on during its cycles, if those vibrations make the hoses move a bit. That's why I was asking of the drop ear elbow would be a stable enough connection point for the hoses.

I guess that YouTube video of the guy using copper extensions on his drop ears got me wondering if a more rigid connection was needed than just pex connected to the drop ear.
