Backup from washer in second floor onto sink in the first floor
Author: kp2016 (PA)

Hello,
I have a washer on second floor and directly below it on the first floor is the powder room with a sink and a toilet. I have been having this problem: whenever the washer drain, the water will backup in the sink on the first floor. No backup in the toilet on the first floor, only in the sink. The backup water has debris and smell pretty bad, no sud.

Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks for your time.

The laundry and sink drains share a common pipe that is partially clogged. The drain needs to be mechanically cleaned(no chemicals), downstream of the sink.

Draining waste liquids, follow the place offering the least amount of resistance. You have a blockage downstream and the sink, offers the least amount of resistance.

Best Wishes
