We replaced the tank a few months ago and the jet pump finally died, so we replaced it we got the same .5 HP that was here. it is all hooked up and when we turn on the power it runs to draw the water to fill the tank and when the tank gets to 40 the pump repeatedly clicks on and off it won't stay off. What can be causing this it can not be the wiring we have changed it every which way and it still does this. I do know we moved the check valve from before the pump to before the tank could this cause the quick on/off? Any help is greatly appreciated as I know nothing about wells in general.

You probably have a shallow well pump. Is there any way you could post a photo showing the pump and tank set-up?

The check valve needs to be at the inlet of the pump.
