 Running hose thru clawfoot drain
Author: Rodneyc (ID)

I am doing an outdoor aquarium and I want to run a hose from a submersible pump thru the drain in the clawfoot tub to the faucet on the tub to create a continous flow.
I'm not sure how I would go about it without it leaking the water out of the tub at the drain.
Any ideas would help, especially with photos or diagrams.
Thanks, Rod.

You include the drain into your loop and connect the hose to the drain itself.

you remove the slip joint tee from the drain and replace it with a slip joint 90.

or...

remove the entire drain assembly and replace it with a new one that uses PVC fittings. substitute an elbow for the sanitary tee. it is called a tub drain kit.. sponsor sells them..

You might use the illusion that is often employed. Use a clear plastic hose and stick it into the spout. When the pump runs the water will go up the hose then run back down on the outside of it concealing the hose. Just keep the hose straight and vertical.
