Installing a laundry area and sink in the basement, about 4' below where the main line exits the house. I'm looking at various drain pumps and there seems to be two types, those that mount directly to the sink and those that use an enclosed basin that the sink drains into.
The type that mounts below the sink has the float switch in the pump, so as soon as water runs in the drain the pump turns on. These also don't need a vent. The type that mounts on the floor has a box with basically a sump pump in it that turns on when the water in the box gets to a certain level. These do need a vent to operate, and in my case it will have to be an AAV.
Is one type better than the other in terms of reliability? One brand better than the others? The washer will drain into the sink, so any suggestions on type/brand of lint filter?

the type that needs a basin under the sink will not work with an AAV.
so, use the type that attaches to the sink opening..
