We have had a few plumbers come outo help with our noisy pipe situation. We hear three very loud knocks when the toilet stops running in our master. Then one (more faint) knock when we turn a faucet on or off or run the washing machine or dishwasher. What is it and how do we fix it?

It could possibly be a loose washer, turn the valve to the toilet about 2/3 of the way off and try it.
It could be water hammer, are you on city water ? Do you know your water pressure ?

It could be that drain pipe is not pitched properly therefore
not allowing the water to drain properly and when there is
a difference of temperatures between the pipes and water
it will result in a banging noise i had the same problem
with my furnace every time it kicked on and started to push the steam
i would hear the pipes banging a company came like super quick
and just re pitched a copper pipe
and bingo solved the problem. Hope that helps
