Bathroom faucet leaking under the sink - help needed
Author: ymg200 (NJ)

Hi all,
I have the Delta faucet (hot side) dripping UNDER the sink. You can see the drop of water where the arrow is pointing to.
What could be the cause of this leak?

Thank you.

Where it is leaking.... it is not suppose to be leaking. The band-aid approach will not resolve the leaking issue. Turn the water off and remove the supplies. The faucet must be removed and inspect for damage to the faucet body or shaft for cracks. How old is the faucet, with pop-up?

Best Wishes

The faucet is about 15 years old. It leaks from under the white plastic nut where the arrow points to.
It drips only when the hot water is on. Sometimes it drips more, sometimes less.

It is more likely leaking from the stem ABOVE the sink and running down inside the escutcheon. Remove the handle and see if THAT is where the leak is.

agree.. it probably needs an 'o' ring where the stem fits thru the packing nut.

NO! Usually the thread is cracked where it screws into the top of the spout. The water comes from INSIDE the pipe, not on the outside.

i've never seen that. but I have seen tons of faucets leaking around the packing nut and running down under the faucet base.
BTW, you can't be happy about the AZ loss to the pats..

Replace the faucet....so much easier and your done with it,you'll have a pretty new faucet to look at.

I agree with NoHub -- it's definitely the path of least resistance. You'll be pulling out the 15 year old faucet anyway. Put back a new one.
