Why is my bathroom hot water faucet cutting off when turned? The cold water is ok, but the hot water will cut off seconds after turning it on. Thank you

either the washer is swelling as it gets hot or the washer is loose and stops the flow.
swelling would stop the water slowly where as loose washer would stop the flow rather quickly..

Could be a problem with the hot water tank. Is it only a problem in the bathroom.

Loose washer. Also change the seat while you are at it, the washer is probably loose because the seat is rough. A rough seat can bite into the washer and when the stem turns it causes the bibb screw to turn.

What brand and how old is the faucet. Can you provide a picture of it. Normally, and aged faucet with brass stems have a flat washer and a stem screw that holds the flat washer in place. Wear of the washer,

Turn the water OFF from the stop under the faucet and remove the brass stem. While the stem assembly is removed, inspect the faucet seat in the base of the faucet with your baby finger. Use original parts when performing repairs.

Best Wishes
