Slab house. Has a 2" cleanout ABS, that is recessed in the block about 2". Can't get a wrench on it.
Do they make a square socket?

Also don't see a way to do it right and extend it out 1 1/2" to 2" without it sticking out to long.

Any suggestions?

be cheaper to just drill a couple of holes in it and then cut some slots and take it out in pieces. probably buy a new 2 inch plug for less than a buck.

Get a piece of square tubing with the correct inside dimension.

Square sockets are available but they are expensive. Frequently they come as 8 point sockets.

hj's suggestion makes the most sense. Just go to a metals dealer and get a short length of square tubing.

I probably would use a chisel to strike a dent on the cleanout somewhere close to the edge, then use a flat head screwdriver and a hammer to hit it on a skew and see if it moves. If you end up cracking or punching through its a cheap item to buy new.

That is very difficult to do when the plug is recessed into a wall and the opening in the wall is the same size as the plug's o.d.

what would macguyver do? This is one of those fun problems to have. get a piece of 2x4 and hog out the end with a sawzall to the dimension you need. there's your wrench.

1. The 2x4 would NOT fit the hole in the wall
2. If the plug is tight enough the 2x4 would split

Could probably get an adjustable wrench on the plug, with the wrench vertically on the plug and sticking out of the hole. Then put a second adjustable wrench on the handle of the first one at 90* to get turning leverage. Might work in a pinch, but the square tubing is your best answer.

probably could use a basin wrench with minimum 'chipping out' for clearance
