We just had our electrical serviced changed over and our electric water heater was off all day. Once electric was back on our water was yellowish with dirt flakes in it. Still having that 12 hours after electric back on, however not as much and water clears after about 10-30 seconds. I also realized the new circuit for the water heater was off this morning. Can not having the water heater on for hours cause this discoloration and dirt in the water. Electrician stated they did not touch any of the plumbing, other than putting a ground wire on the water main. Thanks.

Your water sat idle for all of those hours and oxidation began. It should clear up in 24 hours. Do you have well waters or city water.

It's city water. It has since cleared up. I feel better knowing it was probably this. Thank you.
