Hi,
My pump went 2 weeks ago, had my plumber replace it, which is the style that is attached directly on top of my water tank, located in my basement. (I believe it's a Goule J5 Jet pump)
Worked fine for about 24 to 48 hours, then pump was short cycling, and losing water pressure for a few seconds, every minute or so. (would get worse as days went on) Called plummer , who talked my son thru adjusting the psi and the issue of the short cycling.
Everything working great! again only for 2 days then same issues. This time had the plummer back, he said psi was out of whack, adjusted everything again... again worked fine, for a few days!!
back to same problems again... Do you have any Ideas at all, what could be the issue???
Please help, spent $600 just for the pump and another 200 for install, really can't afford spending much more
I know if I call him back again, he will be charging me
Thank so much for any suggestions, you may have
Donna

Short cycling is caused by an imbalance of the air pressure in the tank and the water pressure of the pump. Either there's too much air pressure in the tank, or too little. In your case I think there's too little pressure in the tank, and it sounds as if leaks out in a couple days. If that is indeed the case, pressurize the tank and spray soapy water on the Schrader valve and see if it's leaking there, if not then the tank will need to be replaced.
