Today I woke up to a backed up sewer line in my basement. I live in Auburn NY...near Syracuse.
I called the water dept to make sure the issue wasn't on their end. They say it's not.
I had Roto Rooter come and try and remove the blockage with their roto rooter tool. They could not get through to it from the basement.
My house was built in late 1800's and there is not another clean out in the basement. I do however have this in my driveway...not sure if it's another sewer clean out or not...Can anyone shed light on it? How do I get the cover off?
Roto rooter wanted to send the jet clean truck...but I didn't want to pony up over $500.00 if I have a broken pipe.....
Thank you in advance.
Here is the pic....

Looks like a basic J R Smith/Josam/Wade/Zurn cleanout cover with 3 screw anchors, which should be visible if you scrape the crud off the surface.

You are assuming the "sewer cleaning company" knew what they were doing.
