I purchased a couple of angle stops for my half bathroom sink. The pipe coming out from the wall for each connection already has a compression nut on it. Should I be removing those before I install the angle stops since they come with compression nuts. Also, should I use tape and what kind works best?

If the threads are exactly the same, use the nuts that are already on the pipe. No tape is needed.

yeah, a couple of drops of oil or a touch of grease will help the nut tighten to the valve. just makes it slipperier. there is that word that no one can spell...

most new compression stops have the same threads but some years back there was two kinds of threads used so if they are you will be able to see right off they are course
