 flood safe line
Author: nimblewill (NC)

I had the no flow problem that every one gets with a flood safe line. I replaced the line with a standard line. Problem solved. While working on the problem I disconnected the flood safe line from the sink faucet. The shutoff valve under the sink was open. There were no leaks. It was blocked.
Next, I put the disconnected flood safe line into a bucket. Nothing happened. Still blocked.
Next, I turned off the shutoff valve and then I turned it back on. Water came rushing out into the bucket until I opened the shutoff valve to about half way. Then the flood safe line kicked in and the line was blocked.
Rather than removing the flood safe line from the shutoff valve I turned off the shutoff valve. Next, I turned the valve back on and at about half way it again blocked. I repeated this process several times.
As I said the problem has been fixed by installing a standard line.
My question is what caused the flood safe line sensor to reset? I didn't remove the flood safe line. I simply turned the shutoff valve off and then on. I don't know a physicist.

You have to turn the water on to a floodsafe line VERY slowly, or it will interpret the rush of water into the hose as a leak and shutdown. THen you have to disconnect it from the valve to get rid of the pressure and reset the floodsafe. YOurs was working the way it is "supposed" to, even though it can be a nuisance.
