We recently bought a house that was built in 1992 and I'm sure these are the original facuets. We have a locked up Moen cartridge and were going to replace it. There is no allen screw on the faucet, so I assume there center cap has to come off and there is a center/set screw. I cannot get this cap off. Does anyone know if it is supposed to pry off or unscrew? I have tried channel locks and turning counter clockwise. I have tried getting a flathead and even an exacto blade under the cap. No luck with either. I looked online and can't even find this model facuet information. Can anyone tell me how to get this off?

The cap unscrews, but there is a rubber gasket under it so it will tanke a bit of effort to do it. Secondly, it is NOT a Moen valve, but rather a Price-Pfister Avante cartridge.
