You instal the proper mechanism inside the flush valve.

Cycle should take less than a minute to refill. If its taking longer, you may have an issue. What is the Gallon Per Flush on your toilet? Well or City water? What brand of fill valve did you purchase?

There are 3 kits available A-36A, A-38A and the new performance kit. A typical flush cycle should take 6-8 seconds. Check the relief valve to make sure the surface area is clean.
