 Schedule 80 PVC or Polybutylene Question

Hello. I have a longer question. I have a well and in my well house I have a gray pipe sticking out of the concrete floor. This pipe goes from the well house to my house to supply water. The pipe looks to be gray in color and I believe to be 1". It sticks up from the concrete floor about 2" and then reduces down to 3/4" schedule 40 pvc with a pvc fitting and then an elbow fitting and runs to my water softener, filter, etc with the 3/4" schedule 40 pvc. My first question is this...

- the gray pipe sticking out of the ground I assume is 1" schedule 80 gray pvc but I now think it could be 1" Polybutylene. If so - can I reduce the 1" to 3/4" male thread with a schedule 40 fitting and than go to a 3/4" female sharbite adapter and run pex (regardless if it is 1" schedule 80 or 1" Polybutylene)?

- I need to cut the gray pipe sticking out from the ground as flush as possible to the part where it reduces down to 3/4" due to not having a lot of room to stick a new 1" pvc slip to 3/4" male thread adapter. How would be the best, safest way to cut flush at the top of the pipe right below the reducer?

How does it connect to the regular PVC? If it is glued then it has to be sch. 80 PVC.

The problem with this if it is Polybutylene is that my pipe is 1" and these only go up to 3/4" Thanks however!

I think you may have answered my question!! It is glued so thus it must be schedule 80 and not Polybutylene. And to be sure I understand Polybutylene cannot be glued?

Also - do you know of a good way to cut the pipe right at the connection flush just below the connection? I only have a couple of inched of pipe and I need to give myself enough room to put a fiting on the 1' pipe.
