Please someone can you assist. I have lived in AZ all my life. Brand new home built FEB 2016. Now its Summer and the Cold water said AUDIOS!! Home builder stated nothing they can do, because the pipes are not buried deep thus causing hot water. We have adjusted the temp on a GAS Water HEATER.. no change. There has to be some type of resolution to this... HELP! Again lived here all my life never had this issue before.

thank you for your quick response. So will it make a difference to insulate them in the attic?

it will help slow down the transfer of heat from the air to the pipes.

Yeah, right. As if that is ever going to happen. Since this is a new AZ home, I would be VERY surprised if he does not have PEX piping in the attic. Anyway, the water mains in the streets become warm so there is NO COLD WATER available ANY WHERE!

No! Insulation just slows down the process but the standing water in the pipes, when you are not using the water, will ALWAYS become warm.

Did you have a private well at your previous residence?

I hate when that happens. Does your neighbors have the same issue?

EVERYONE in AZ, unless the are in FLagstaff or Tuscon has the same problem. We just learn to live with it. Some people turn the water heater off and when the water reaches "room temperature" in the tank, they use that for the cold water.
