I was on a mission to replace the tank tee and when attempting to removing the old one from the tank the whole threaded fitting warped and sunk in to the bottom of the tank 1/4"......just in time for a new tank!!! but it was Saturday and the largest tank available was Home Cheapo's 32 gallon waterworker brand.
The existing tank was 45-55 gallons no model number but based on Extrol's dimensions I make that guess.
I do not know what kind of pump it is but, the controller is rated 1/2hp.
The switch is 40/60 psi. Tank precharge when empty set at 38 psi
1.5 bath single kitchen home, nothing special other than 2 sediment filters and a standard water softener.
After installing the tank and testing the shower running I get 3.5-4 minutes before cut in and the pump cycles 35-45 seconds.
I don't know anything about pumps and understand there are many variables but does this seem alright or do I need a larger tank to allow the pump to run longer but fewer cycles?

That size tank is definitely acceptable for your application.

Thanks for looking it over. Just wondering how do you size a tank since the old one was so much bigger?

If you know your gpm from the pump, Amtrol has a great tool to help with the sizing. [www.amtrol.com]

A 1/2 HP pump generally has you in a 6-9 gpm pumping range.

For the calculator I need to select How long should the pump should cycle (min. Run time) I'm at 40 seconds now, should it be longer?

The minimum run time is one minute. The ideal run time is two minutes.

Can I increase my run time by 15-20 seconds without adding anything?
