Water heater in garage and Utility sink in garage
Author: SJErick (NC)

Can I run the supply lines for the utility sink in my garage off 2 tees on the cold intake and warm outlet off the water heater using PEX. I have an expansion tank in the supply line but it is 30 feet from the water heater. Or do I have to run the supply off the 3/4 pex 8 feet or more before the heater?

It depends on how many fixtures you have in the house, the water pressure from the source, the distance you need to pipe, and the size of the existing lines if you do it correctly. Start with the existing pressure and go to a sizing chart and compute the distance to determine the size of the lines. It is a process. Good luck.

unless there is a major problem with running pipes from the 3/4 hot and cold, why not use 3/4 x 3/4 x 1/2 tees.
you need to be 18 inches from the heater with any plastic piping anyway..
