My buddy ran out a zone of 3/4 pex with regular h & c pex. The job is done.... Is it crucial to have the aluminum inner core pex installed for a heating zone ? Will this damage the boiler ? thanks

They put a coating on the outside of HePex. It stops oxygen permeation, which will ruin a cast iron or steel boiler.

You need to know what type of boiler it is. No one can say how long it will take, but it will substantially shorten the life of the boiler. I'd replace it, or if it was major work, I'd get a flat plate heat exchanger and use that to isolate the boiler from that zone.

replace as much as you can. therre are additives that can slow the corrosion factor. they won't stop it but they will help.
look up boiler water treatment or conditioner.
