 Tempering valve
Author: Nickj (Non-US)

Owing to having solar heated water the temperature of the stored water is too high for mixer taps and a Mira shower I want to install.
I would like to install an in-line tempering valve to reduce the water temperature down to the necessary 60/65 degrees.
All the tempering valves I have seen for sale state a minimum of 4 ltr. a min for both hot and cold water flow. Is this just for commissioning the system or would that flow be required while just using the shower.

As both the hot and cold water are gravity fed there is no way that the shower takes / delivers 4 ltr. a min.
Through the taps 4 ltr a min. is no problem.

a tempering/mixing valve has a thermostatic spring in it. it controls the amount of hot water coming thru it. the GPM or in your case the LPM has nothing to do with it.
when the valve is cool it allows almost full hot water thru it. but as the water going thru the mixer warms up it chokes off the hot and lets more cold thru. the amount is irrelevant.

I suggest you go to heatinghelp.com , and ask the question on "The Wall". There's a gentleman there that does training for Caleffi. He will be able to guide you in the right direction.
