Replaces a Grundfos pump with a Watts Model 500803 pump.Old pump gave hot water in 5 seconds. New pump hot water in 3 minutes. New pumps runs. Both pump & check valve installed correct flow. Water flows ok from pump through drain on circulation systerm. Pump pull water through systerm & pushes water back into water heater through the cold recirculating water inlet about 6 inches above the heater drain. Any ideas

"pull water through systerm" ????
it is supposed to pull water from approximately the farthest fixture hot pipe and return it to the water heater drain area.

Is there a valve between the drain and the water heater ? It sound like something is restricting the flow. Was the old pump replaced because it wasn't running ?
