We have back-to-back 1/2 baths in our building at work. We'd like to make one of them a Washer/Dryer room while adding a shower and moving the toilet in the other one. Is this layout acceptable??
Also, the new toilet drain cannot simply go "south" and connect to the main; due to obstructions it must head toward the old toilet area as shown.

it looks OK to me. can you tie the new laundry into the existing main stack? this will wash the base of the stack clean as it drains and no vent needed as it will be stack vented.
also, if done correctly and within the proper distance, the new toilet is stack vented. it then will not need a seperate vent.

Unfortunately I cannot tie the washer into the main stack. It's encased in a block wall and there are other obstructions. The toilet will be about 5 ft from the stack but I'm told its always a good idea to vent the toilet, especially if you're already tearing up the floor to put in the drain.

eliminate the toilet vent. use a 3 inch "Y" for the washer drain connection. come out of the floor 3 inch and put a 3 x 2 x 2 sanitary tee for the washer drain and vent. the 2 inch washer vent connected to a 3 inch drain will be more than enough air for the toilet/washer wet vent.

The washer connecting downstream of the toilet with a "Y" could aspirate the air and suck the water out of the toilet. Put the toilet vent in.

it would be a cold day in phoenix when a washer drain hose with a 3/4 inch opening draining into a 2 inch pipe that dumps into 3 x 2 x 2 san tee would aspirate a toilet. also there is a main stack at the end of the run.
in new england slang.. it ain't gonna happen..
