Hello. I pulled off the overflow plate but now I can see how I reconnect these two parts.
I am really determined to get this back together on my own. Seems like it should be super easy but I can't figure it out.

i haven't done one of those in a while so my memory may be a little cloudy.
to make sure it is lifting, stick a phillips screwdriver into the 'round eyelet' in your photo. it should lift up and down freely and move the stopper up and down.
now simply slide the larger of the 2 round 'pins' on the back of the plate into that eyelet and fasten the screws.

Actually, the SMALLER of the two pins goes into the eyelet.

Thanks !! That did the trick. It was the smaller one that needed to go in there. Glad I found this forum and that I was also able to obtain the schematic to understand what I am dealing with.
