Can't remove 1/4 turn valve

Hello,
I am installing a dishwasher and need to replace the hot water shut off valve with one that will supply hot water to the faucet and the dishwasher. The problem is that the existing 1/4 turn shut off valve won't come off...it just spins and spins(it looks like it is fitted over a plastic sleeve). I can't remove it or tighten it.
Can anyone tell me how you remove this type of valve? My concern is that it is some type of fitting that is in place over the pipe that connects the valve, which means I won't be able to swap it out.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Author: m & m (MD) You seem to be describing a "SharkBite" type compression valve. If so, it is removed by releasing the locking mechanidm and lifting it off. I'm sure YouTube would have something on this subject.

Author: nhdon (VT) Thanks...it is apparently a sharkbite valve....and annoyingly, I don't have a sharkbite dual outlet valve(if there is such a thing) to install this dishwasher. I will never hear the end of this! Edited 1 times.

Author: m & m (MD) Remove the valve. Install a "SharkBite" tee. Install two "SharkBite" valves, one for the faucet, one for the dishwasher.

Author: North Carolina Plumber (NC) Whatever you do, you need a separate valve for the dishwasher, and a valve for the kitchen faucet.
