Hi. Trying to replace a kitchen sink faucet for girlfriend. Cast iron/porcelain sink. I took a picture underneath and it is very strange. Somebody jerry-rigged this thing from what I see. No tailpieces and nuts to hold it on. It looks like nothing is holding it on but rust!I have thought about just taking a screwdriver and hammer to see if I can pop it loose. Any suggestions. I'll link to the photo. Thank you, Paul

There is a 3/4 moon disc with a threaded stud/nut holding the faucet. It will need to be loosened or cut to release the faucet.

there IS a long 'rod coupling' type nut which holds the '1/2 moon' washer in place
you will need a socket and driver to either loosen same or snap stud unto which it is screwed

thank you all for responding.I am unfamiliar, so is this a "top down" job? Do I disassemble the faucet spout etc and is there a nut on top? The hot/cold valves also wont turn so will have to replace them. Jeez, I might be over my head. Thought this was a simple job and trying to save her a few bucks...but...don't want to crack the sink (on second thought might be easier to replace sink....

on a scale of 1 to 10 this job is a 7 1/2...
you are a nice guy to try to save her money but for an untrained person there is alot that can go wrong and cost her more in the end.
i would hire her a plumber..

Awesome. Thank you. See it clearly now. I get it. that nut might need to be soaked in wd 40. might be very rusted (obviously).

the nut is like a rod coupling
using a ratchet wrench and some 'ooomph' simply either unscrew or snap the stud to which it screws
then
the faucet will lift UP from the top - you may need to 'bend and guide' the 'tails'
