Hi Folks,
I have a Delta shower control I think its a monitor 1300/1400. It is an outside shower in a shore community and I am very careful to pull out the cartridge and fully drain it leaving everything open - pre freeze. I went to install the cartridge last evening and there is a slow drop when the handle is off. Upon resetting it again I noticed when I had the hot and cold stops screwed shut there was still a little drip coming out of the area where the cartridge goes. This alarms me because I am thinking the metal control body may have a crack in it. Its easy enough to install a new control body, but crap - the warm weather is here and I wanna to go to the beach instead!
Thoughts????

I'd pull the cartridge, lubricate the O-rings and reinstall. If it still leaks then it's time to replace the valve. Is it a shower only valve or a tub-shower ? If tub -shower how did you cap the tub outlet ? Sometimes enough water can remain there to freeze and crack something.

The old cartridge may have "dried out" and you need a new one.

I did use silicone lube when I tried the install last night. The bottom direction of the control goes down and outside with a spigot on it - so yes everything did drain out.
