I have a burst in the pipe of a hose bib just inside the wall. Further in than that, there are threads which make it appear that the bib can be unscrewed. However, all pats along that are rounded (not meant for a wrench). I've tried to unscrew it with a vise grips, but it won't budge.
Is is likely that these threads are meaningless and there is no way for me to unscrew it? All parts are copper, and there is a ring between the bib and the threads.
Thanks.

unfortunately sometimes you have to open up walls to repair hose bibs.

On Woodford faucets there are threads on the outside, but a copper pipe can be sweated inside, leaving the threads visible. The ring and threads are brass, so if it is indeed threaded a large pair of channel locks would probably unscrew it. I don't think you could get enough leverage with vise grips to unscrew it if it's fairly tight.
