Replacing well pump but cannot figure out type of pipe going to the well.
It is Black rigid plastic says on side 1 1/4" Sch 80
ID = 1.255" makes sense with sch80
OD =1.435" Not typical sch 80
has glue fitting
Any ideas? I really do not want to dig up well and replace pipe.
this is an old well
Thanks for your time and effort
Peter

It may be ABS pipe that was used for potable water and went by the name "Kraylastic". I have seen it mostly in Sch 40 but I'm sure it was available in Sch 80 too. Used mostly in the 60's and 70's. I have found that CPVC fittings will work on it with all- purpose glue.

I agree, it's probably ABS. New fittings are basically unavailable. CPVC fittings can be honed out a tiny bit and used on ABS, or at least on 1".

Thanks that is what I have done--used a oscillating spindle sander.
Thanks--I am amazed that the 3 plumbing shops and a well supply shop had no ideas.
Again thanks
