 Venting a Kohler Veil Toilet
Author: TBCEI (MO)

How do you vent a Kohler Veil Toilet - the flush tank for this wall hung toilet is recessed in a 2" x 6" stud wall with the tank mounted above the waste outlet, so there is no way to carry a vent line directly up from the wall mounted toilet. Has anyone ever installed one of these toilets?

The problem is - the Kohler installation calls for a 2 x 6 installed within 11/32" of each side of the in-wall tank to support the in-wall unit. The waste turns from horizontal (from the wall hung closet) to vertical below the in-wall tank inside the wall. There is no way to have the vent line go vertical off the top of the waste line as the in-wall tank is in the way. I am constrained by floor joists below to do a 'Y' off the horizontal waste line below the floor and my waste stack with its vent is 10 feet away from the Kohler closet.

What is Kohlers solution? Almost seems as though you need to go to a thicker wall.

Kohler did not have a solution - they say it is up to the installing plumber. I've came up with two solutions. I gave up on the idea of holding the waste line in the basement up between joists and will carry it at the underside of the joists. Let me get a couple of solutions on paper and I will include them in my next posting.
