city water turns yellow after rain
Author: bobbino1 (PA)

I live in the end unit of a long line of connected one bedroom aparts. and these are in a substantially large apart.complex. Now I've been told that it is not well water and it isn't beeing fed by a spring. Whenever it rains,my water turns an ugly yellow,(everything-tub,camode,faucet-the works) I have called the manangement and their solution is to run the hot water til it comes out clear, this uses up the hot water and I can,t take a hot bath. I may be wrong, but this sounds like a temporary and cheaper way of dealing with this issue.I would like to have this (unhealthy)problem corrected. It is obviouse that something is wrong. No one I talked to in other apart. have these issues. Any advice that you can give me would be very greatly appreciatted THANK YOU VERY MUCH

You're not getting responses because what you're stating makes no sense. Is it only on the hot water? Your neighboring apts don't have the problem? Take a yellow water sample and send it to a lab for analysis.

It has NOTHING to do with the rain, other than being coincidental. It is probably the hot water heater causing the coloration, and may have to be replaced.
