 Siphon break
Author: Mattyb13 (MA)

Hello all, I have just moved into a new built condo complex, washing machine drain seems to be located on baseboard 1 1/4"pvc running parallel to floor. I have never seen this setup before, is this considered a floor drain? I realize that I may need a siphon break 28" above ground level with an elbow attached to pvc drain in baseboard?? There is no standing drain which once again is strange because there is a dedicated hole plugged next to h/c in line. What should I do???

No way to give an answer, because your description is too confusing to try to figure out what you have there.

your being in MA means the work had to have been done by a licensed plumber.
it does not sound like it would pass any MA code i know of.
call your local inspector to see if the work was permitted and inspected. if not, somebody is in trouble..

Thank you, although the description is confusing, I am equally confused... What is normal code in MA? 39 IN standing drain above floor? There is an outlet box for h/c inline water next to that is what would appear to be a drain? Although it is capped and sealed? Should I assume this is the drain? I should also mention this setup is on 2nd floor condo

something wrong with your link to photobucket..
anyway, if there is a laundry box in the wall then the drain is in there under a cover. the cover has to be carefully seperated from the box. some come out easily while others have to be removed in 127.5 pieces.
the 1 1/4 inch pipe in question is a drain for a washer drain pan.
as for MA code as regards the standpipe height... all our code says is the standpipe can be no longer than 24 inches..
