We just Repiped our house with PEX last week and the contractors finished patching all the holes today. But, when we use the shower tonight we started hear this loud knocking sound every few second and the sound continue after the water stop. Does anyone know why? Since it is late I haven't contact the repipe company but, I would love to get some ideas before I talk to them. Thank you!

If you have plastic drain piping, it could be expansion/contraction of the drain.

try running the shower with straight cold water to see if it is expansion caused by hot water.

It is probably thermal expansion, but that does not answer WHY it is tapping if the tubing was supported properly.
