Author: ozzyin (CA) I live in a second story house, and whenever I flush toilet upstairs, I hear bang or bang bang sounds when toilet stops refilling water. The sounds comes from down stair. Does that mean that drain pipes are loose? If so, how this can be fixed?

Author: srloren (CA) You may have air in the line and the quick closing toilet fill valve is causing the hammer that you hear. Try opening all of the faucets at the same time so just a little water is flowing at each fixture. Do this then go back and turn them off and see if the air gets bled out. As a last resort you can install a Mini-Rester (not too expensive) from HomeDepot to stop the noise.
