looking for opnions...uncovered old drain in basment(covered in concrete, vinyl tile, floor levler, tile and finely purgo flooring!) Got it flowing! since basment is 75% below grade and a dehumidifier is run constantly. I am considering to extended the opening' level the floor and in the levler runing a line that the dehumidifiers use to drain than tiling over the drain and using magnets to hold the tile over the actual drain to keep access to but hidden. Good idea? Bad idea? Or just hammer it out, cap it and level it for the tile?

It needs to be open so other water can make it to the drain. Burst water pipe, leaking water heater, and so forth and so on.

Exposed floor drains do not NEED to be ugly.

From your description, it sounds like you are proposing an indirect drain line with an air break, not an air gap. I don't know how setting a tile over the top would affect that, but maybe somebody else knows.
For a dehumidifier, an indirect with an air break is probably allowed, although you will have to check with the authority in your jurisdiction.
