I'm planning on replacing an old toilet. I've measure the distance from the baseboard to the flange bolt and it is only 10.5 inches. Will this create problems installing the new toilet? I've read it should be 12 inches from the baseboard. HELP! Thanks

What is more critical, is the measurement from the finished wall to the center of the bolts. The tank usually sits back more than the bowl at the baseboard height. You will have more than 10½" to the wall. There are some 10" toilets available, for when the flange is closer than 12". Check the specs for the toilet you want to install and see what the minimum distance is. Most 12" toilets can be installed with a little less than 12".

Steve is right but unless you have a really thick base board, you are probably looking at a 10" rough toilet. Go ahead and check the specs to be sure.
