where would I run a vent line I was gone to use y with one branch to vent line the other to drain then to p trap this would put the vent before the p trap or should I put a t in the tail piece then to vent I think this would put the vent after then I could run that up the wall to a horizontal vent to main stack

What exactly are installing and where is it located? The vent needs to be on the street side of the trap. A vertical wye can't be used for a vent take-off. Any drawings/pictures would be big asset in getting proper info.

Are you aware of the plumbing laws in MA(ie-homeowners can't do their own work)?

just call your local inspector with any questions about how much you can be fined for doing your own plumbing in your own home.
