 Need p trap?
Author: Ayoung5454 (KY)

Bought a house built in 98. Unfinished basement with plumbed bathroom (sink, toilet, shower). My question is with the shower drain. It was not capped off but tied up and into the sink drain. When i cut it off it goes down to a T. Ironically it does not smell of sewer. Do i need to cut the slab out and install a p-trap. Im assuming there is not one because the drain goes down to a T. Its wierd that it would be plumbed without one. Also that it does not smell of sewer. Any insight? See video below.

I think you took apart the vent for the shower. The center of the shower, with tail piece and trap could
be over and need to be exposed.

Did you install what looks like the dam for the shower pan? It looks too close to the toilet.
