 Dripping Shower Head
Author: ianwhite (PA)

Greetings!

I have an American Standard shower system (model R 110SS) with a ceiling rainfall shower head. In the last few months I noticed that the shower head was intermittently leaking a few drops throughout the day. Some days there would be some wet tiles other days perfectly dry. I figured the PBV or cartridge was going bad so I...

-Replaced the Pressure Balance Valve
-Replaced the Fixation Ring.
-Replaced the Cartridge.

Unfortunately, that did not fix the problem, the shower head still drips (although not all the time).

I would appreciate any suggestions!

Thanks,

Ian

Unless it leaks ALL the time, none of those repairs were necessary. It is "residual" water in the head or pipe to the head that is dripping out. If could be because that water gets "warmer" and expands so it has to drip to get rid of the little bit of extra water.

Hi HJ,

Thanks for your reply, your idea explains why the drip only happens some of the time. However, I am not sure why this has only started happening recently.
