So I had to replace the cartridges on a Moen two handle kitchen faucet recently, and I could not get them out.
Amazingly, in all my years of plumbing I have never had to replace those cartridges. Apparently Moen two handle faucets are not very common here? I have done a 1000 1222's though.
Anyway, is this a common problem with these? Is there a trick to getting them out that you guys employ other than simply pulling as hard as possible and crossing your fingers? I have never had a problem getting any other style cartridge out.

My biggest nightmares with Moen cartridges has been predominantly the 1222, not the 1224.

OK good, glad I'm not alone. At least the 1222 you can spin to break free!

Keep thinking like that until you get one that the rubber seals roll over and jam. One was so bad that the pipe solder joints came apart and the only repair was to change the body. When the stem breaks off, it can also be challenging to extract the core.

Yes, I have had a couple of those, but many more that weren't too much trouble.

I think a lot of it relates to water quality. The harder the water, the more calcium build up, the harder the cartridge is to extract.
