 Kohler toilet
Author: SwimRunPlumb (MI)

I recently stuck a new Fluidmaster 400A Pro fill valve in my own Kohler toilet. I am not sure what model it is, but it is the canister plunger style, relatively new. I have three of them, which were here when I moved in. Ever since I replaced it, the bowl barely gets any water and does not fill up. It seems to fill the tank up so fast that the bowl doesn't have time to fill up. Do I actually need an OEM Kohler fill valve? Does the Kohler fill valve somehow send more water into the bowl than the tank?

Thanks!

Posting the model number would be helpful. There is a Fluidmaster model with an adjustable fill rate.

They told me toilet parts are only warranteed for a year. undecided

Even if I had an adjustable fill valve, I don't think it will help. I need more water to go into the bowl, not less. It's strange too, I see it pouring water into the overflow tube, but the bowl is barely rising. It's like it is vanishing! eek

with the fill valve satisfied and not running, dump a little food coloring down the overflow rube to see what happens.

@Packy How do you get free Kohler parts? I thought they were only warrantied to the home owner.

IF the tank was leaking, he would NOT have the problem he is describing, because it would fill the bowl.

They are, but I have them send the parts to me so I can install them. I have already spent time with the customer, and if THEY got the parts they might install them themselves or have a buddy do it and I would be cut out.

The adjustable rate on some Fluidmasters is with the refill rate, not the tank fill rate.
