Installing a basement bathroom and have to vent the sewage ejecter sump and the inspector says I need to vent the fixtures separately from that -- so two vents. I am not close to the ideal spot where I'm going up through the house and through the roof. How far can I go laterally when tying into the vertical vent pipe. Even if I'm tying to the old main stack, I'd still have to go 20 feet or so horizontally. Is that a problem? How far could I go? Are 90 degrees allowed?

Author: packy (MA) you can go alot further than 20 feet as long as it has a slight slope back to the fixtures. you can use regular 90's for venting. in fact you can use vent 90's..

Author: hj (AZ) The "old main stack" is most likely a drain pipe, so you cannot use it for a "vent" connection. Unless the inspector is "by the book" or has a problem with you, the horizontal distance should not be a problem.

Author: North Carolina Plumber (NC) Once upon a time the horizontal limit on 2" was 60' before having to increase the pipe size.

Author: york techman (PA) HI, THE ICC 2009 IPC ALLOWS YOU TO COMBINE THE SUMP VENT AND FIXTURE VENTS INTO ONE VENT; SEE SECTIONS/FIGURES 712.2 AND 916.5
