 Venting problems
Author: Stu s (MI)

We recently updated a bathroom. And installed a new toto toilet. We never altered the plumbing drains, but we did have to move a vent pipe. Since then there has been gurgling and the trap in the shower becomes dry allowing sewer gases to escape. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

If the shower trap is being siphoned then it's likely not vented properly. If we could see a picture of the drains we might be able to come up with a solution. Was there a permit and inspection of the remodel ?

yeah, it depends on what "move a vent" means. in reality moving a vent should cause no problem. if it worked before it should work now.

Unfortunately I do not have pictures. There was no permit

The vent pipe in the wall was rerouted to accommodate a shelf in the shower
