3/8 male compression to 1/4 male compression
Author: FloydM (MD)

I'm trying to connect a female 3/8 compression fitting braided water line coming from a cold water pipe in my house to a female 1/4 inch compression fitting braided water line going to an ice maker. (Don't ask me how I got into this peculiar mess.) I ordered the piece I thought would do the connection, a 3/8 inch to 1/4 inch NPT stainless steel reducing nipple (male both ends) and it is way too big for the two female ends I am trying to join. I must be mixing apples and oranges, so I need to figure out what piece I need to make the connection. Any ideas?

Thanks for the response. I guess when I saw things like that, I didn't think they would work because of the nuts on either side. They must just screw off to accept the female ends of my two compression lines. One last question - I do have to avoid brass fittings because of lead, right?
