 SharkBite and CPVC pipe
Author: GreatProtector (CA)

Yesterday and today I undertook a simple task: replace an old angle stop under my sink in a mobile home. Well after I turned off the water main, I took all the 3/8" and 1/2" lines apart wrapped them carefully with 2 turns of white teflon tape and then put them back together. The drip continued and actually was worse than before. So today I purchased a couple of SharkBite fittings to adapt to a new standard iron pipe angle stop and the
SharkBite didn't bite so when I turned the water back on I had a big problem! Yes I followed the instructions to the letter. Cut the pipe with my tubing cutter and it came out very clean, with no burrs and @ least 1" worth of material to go up into the SharkBite fitting. I tried both packages and they both leaked like there was no tomorrow. I quit and now will go to bed. If somebody is up late and knows what went wrong, I'll check this thread out in the morning. Thanks in advance for any help. I have the water off still.

Simply solvent cement on an CPVC X (M)NPT adapter then use a screw-on angle stop.

Maybe the pipe is cracked. I don't think you would get 2 bad sharkbite fittings in a row.
